Suzy Gulliver

Dr.
Co-Director, Baylor Scott & White Research Institute Trauma Research Consortium

Dr. Suzy Bird Gulliver is the co-director of the Trauma Research Consortium and the director of the Warriors Research Institute at the Baylor Scott & White Research Institute. She is also a tenured professor at the Baylor College of Medicine and an adjunct professor at the Texas A&M Health Science Center. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and clinical researcher.

Dr. Gulliver began her career as a National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA)-funded postdoctoral fellow at Brown University and later spent over 12 years in a variety of roles throughout the Veterans Affairs. She has been providing treatment for 39 years and mentoring for 33 years. She has worked with firefighters for over 20 years.

On the heels of 9/11, Dr. Gulliver and team initiated their first international research project with the fire service to look at resilience in firefighter recruits, which was funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Other research projects with the fire service have examined barriers to accessing behavioral health resources, peer support programs, and relationship health.

Dr. Gulliver holds a BS in Psychology from Quinnipiac College, an MA in Clinical Psychology from Connecticut College, and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Vermont.
